We are delighted to announce that the Board of The Hanley Economic Building Society has elected Ian Henley to succeed Nick Jordan as our Chair, subject to regulatory approval. Having served as Chair since 2018, Nick will be standing down at the end of the year and Ian will assume his responsibilities with effect from January 1st 2026. Ian, currently Chair of the Risk Committee, has over 40 years of experience including in a wide range of senior leadership roles in the banking and financial services industry.
Nick said ' serving as Chair of this historic mutual building society in Stoke on Trent for the last nearly 8 years has been an immense privilege, and we have achieved significant growth, a fundamental review and focus of our business and a hugely rewarding programme to increase our outreach and support of our local communities. I wish The Hanley every success in continuing to deliver its core values, and know it is in the safe hands of the executive team and the Board'
It is a privilege to take on the role of Chair of an institution that has been at the heart of this community for more than 170 years. Our strategy will continue to place the community at its core, whilst also evolving our proposition to meet the needs of a broader audience through an enhanced specialist lending approach. Under Nick’s leadership, the Society has undergone a remarkable transformation and is now in a strong position to serve this community for many years to come. I am fortunate to lead an organisation supported by such a talented and committed Board and executive team, and I look forward to working with them to build on this success.”
